Pre-diagnostic Clinic

Our pre-diagnostic service offering is designed to support you in identifying and addressing areas of development that require attention and intervention. Through our comprehensive assessment, we aim to provide a thorough understanding of your child’s needs. Our team of experts conducts evaluations in various domains, including speech and language skills, cognitive abilities, social and emotional skills, self-help skills, behavioral assessment, and age-appropriate motor skills. By referring you to qualified healthcare professionals or specialists, our diagnostic referral consultation ensures a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. Following the assessment, our intervention program is tailored specifically to meet your child’s unique needs.

 

  1. We offer a pre-diagnostic assessment that helps to identify the areas of development that will require attention and intervention.
    • Speech and language skills assessment with a SLP
    • Cognitive skills assessment such as problem-solving, memory and logical reasoning
    • Social and Emotional Skills Assessment
    • Self-help skills, independence in daily activities for living, dressing toileting and overall functional ability assessment
    • Behavioural assessment and emotional functioning
    • Age appropriate gross motor skills assessment
    • Age appropriate fine motor skills assessment
  2. Our diagnostic referral consultation is when we will provide you with guidance to qualified healthcare professionals or specialist for a comprehensive diagnostic assessment.
  3. Our intervention programme is tailored to your child’s needs specifically.
  4. Should the child be enrolled into Amazing K then the R5000.00 fee will he put towards the enrolment deposit.

  • Cost for the pre-diagnostic 1 week assessment is R5000.00
  • Monday – Friday 07h30 am to 13h30

Goals:

  • Goal is to develop turn-taking skills during a variety of settings including during conversations and to improve the child ability to engage in reciprocal communication.
  • Goal is to develop non-verbal communication skills such as enhanced understanding of body-language, facial expressions and eye contact
  • Goal peer interaction and play skills
  • Goal decrease anxiety in a group setting
  • Goal help Pixie emotionally regulate during an emotional episode
  • Goal is to help the child manipulate a variety of writing-tools and hold scissors appropriately
  • Goal improve articulation of consonant sounds
  • Goal increase vocabulary and understanding of basic concepts
  • Goal improve sentence structure

 

Intervention required:

  • Daily group intervention to work on social communication in a natural setting
  • Group intervention recommended daily for minimum of 2 hours a day
  • Individualized speech therapy session, 1:1 with a licensed speech language therapist, 2 times per week for 30 minutes each
  • Individualized behavioural therapy session, 1:1 with an experienced and qualified therapist, 2 times per week for 30 minutes each
  • Play-based therapy activities to encourage language use and increased motivation 2 hours a day
  • Parent – engagement to teach strategies for at-home practice and generalization of learned skills

 

Measurement:

  • Termly 7-week progress monitoring through formal and informal assessments
  • Detailed termly development progress reports
  • Re-evaluation every 6 months to ensure goals are being met and to adjust treatment or intervention plan as necessary
