Morning-Only Vacancies / Training Based Contracts

We understand the demands of balancing academic pursuits with gaining practical experience. That’s why we offer morning-only vacancies tailored for dynamic undergraduate students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and assistance to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD);
  • Work closely with children aged 2 to 8 years diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a classroom setting.
  • Assist the teaching team in the implementation of the curriculum, ensuring activities are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Prepare creative and engaging lessons for children to complete during class time, incorporating strategies to support their learning and development.
  • Provide support to children on the playground, facilitating motor planning activities and promoting social interaction.
  • Assist children with ASD in overcoming behavior challenges, implementing strategies and techniques in collaboration with the teaching team.
  • Collaborate with speech therapists to support speech and language development in children with ASD.
  • Learn and implement basic sign language skills and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) to facilitate communication and language acquisition for children with ASD.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all children, promoting inclusion and positive social interactions.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in working with children with ASD
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in working with children with ASD and related developmental disorders.

Working Hours

  • Full-day positions: 7h30 to 4h30
  • Half-day positions: 7h30 to 1h30

What To Expect After You Have Sent Your Information

  • Upon receiving your application, we will carefully review your documents to ensure they meet our criteria. If your application is successful, we will schedule a TEAMS interview with one of our Leadership Team Members.
  • Following the interview, successful candidates will be invited to participate in a morning Autism Theoretical workshop at our center in Sharonlea, Randburg.
  • Upon completion of the workshop, you will be required to take a written exam. A passing grade of at least 80% is required to progress to the next stage of the screening process.
  • The next stage involves a one-day practical session in the classroom with a senior member of our team. This unpaid experience lets you showcase your skills and learn from our experienced staff.  During the practical day, you will be tasked with a variety of activities that you will present to students.  You will also need to complete a written assignment based on your experience in the classroom.
  • Once you have successfully passed all three screening levels, you will have a formal interview with the owner of Amazing K.
  • If this interview is successful, we will provide you with a contract of employment to join Amazing K.
