Studies have been done and it has been proven that children with Autism and other development disorders often have difficulties developing motor skills. Fine motor skills (defined by Wikipedia) are the coordination of small muscle movements which occur e.g. in the fingers, usually in coordination with the eyes.
With Fine motor development skills being such an important aspect to life we include this in most of our daily care activities. Weaknesses in fine motor skills can affect the way a child eats, writes, uses a computer, turn pages in a book and even with their ability to get dressed.
Strengthening a child’s fine motor skill ability is vitally important and at Amazing-k we include activities such as:
- Stacking of blocks
- Cutting out shapes with scissors
- Drawing lines or circles
- Tearing paper
- Buttoning a button
- Holding a pen
- Writing and drawing
Other activities like working with clay/putty, interlocking toys or clothespin games are not just fun for our children they are also great to get those little muscles developed.
