Behaviour Instructor / Teacher

Autism therapist needed at our ECD school campuses in Northwold and Sharonlea, Randburg.

Amazing K is looking for a passionate Behaviour Instructor / Teacher to work directly with learners in our specialised autism early childhood development school.

This role is suited to a candidate who has a passion for teaching, specialised education and autism early intervention, and who would like to move from a 1:1 support environment into a structured group classroom setting.

As a Behaviour Instructor in class, you will work directly with a group of learners with a range of complex needs, including social, emotional and communication challenges. Your role will be to help reduce barriers to learning and support learners to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with a group of learners with a range of complex needs.
• Support teachers to ensure that all learners engage more effectively with their learning.
• Demonstrate and apply a range of behaviour management strategies.
• Assist with classroom resources, organisation and general classroom management.
• Assist children with toilet training, nappy changing, toilet schedules and hand washing.
• Help during school events and birthday parties.
• Ensure the curriculum for the class is implemented according to the lesson plan provided by the Lead Teacher.
• Follow the full daily classroom schedule and ensure that all activities are completed in a calm and organised manner.
• Work within a 4:1 child-to-teacher ratio at all times.

Requirements:

• Matric certificate.
• Psychology degree.
• Minimum 1 year relevant experience.
• Passion and desire to further your career in specialised autism education.
• Interest in working in an autism early childhood development centre / school.
• Passion for teaching.
• Desire to move from a 1:1 support setting into a group classroom setting.
