Amazing K Admissions

A specialised learning environment where children are understood, supported and encouraged to thrive.

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family can make. At Amazing K, we support children with autism, communication delays, developmental delays and learning challenges through small-group teaching, communication-focused learning opportunities, structured routines, visual supports and individualised guidance.

Families often tell us that they knew Amazing K was different when they walked through our doors. The warmth of our environment, the relationships between staff and children, and the calm, purposeful atmosphere are experienced first-hand.

“When I walked through the door, I knew.”

There are many schools, therapy centres and intervention programmes available to families today. While each offers something different, parents who choose Amazing K often tell us the same thing.

Why Families Choose Amazing K

A place where children are known, safe and supported with purpose.

Amazing K is more than a programme, a therapy model or a classroom. It is an environment built on trust, structure and genuine care.

Every Child Is Known

Children are seen as individuals and supported by a team that understands their strengths, challenges and potential.

A Safe, Supportive Environment

Families need to feel confident that their child is safe, respected and supported every day.

Learning With Purpose

Our calm, structured environment helps children learn, communicate and participate with confidence.

Amazing K is a place where children are known, understood and genuinely cared for.
We encourage every family to visit us because what makes Amazing K special is something you experience the moment you walk through our doors.

Who Is Amazing K For?

Amazing K supports young children ages 2 and up who are experiencing developmental challenges that affect their ability to communicate, learn, play, participate and thrive in everyday life.

Many of the children who join our programme have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), while others are still in the process of assessment or are experiencing significant developmental delays.

A formal diagnosis is not required before contacting Amazing K. Many families first reach out when they begin noticing developmental differences or concerns about communication, learning, play, social interaction or behaviour.

Families often contact us about:

  • Speech and language delays
  • Difficulty understanding and following instructions
  • Social communication challenges
  • Repetitive or restrictive patterns of behaviour
  • Difficulty coping in mainstream preschool environments
  • Challenges in group activities
  • Limited play skills
  • Toilet training, feeding and self-help skills
  • Emotional regulation challenges
  • Difficulty sustaining attention
  • Delays in early learning and school readiness skills
  • Sensory sensitivities
  • Hyperlexia or intense interests in letters, numbers or counting

Understanding Each Child’s Strengths and Challenges

Some children arrive with skills that appear advanced for their age, yet still experience significant challenges in communication, social interaction and daily functioning.

This may include children who demonstrate early reading abilities, an intense interest in letters, numbers, counting, calendars, maps or specific topics. Parents often describe children who can identify letters and words from a very young age, read well beyond their age level, or memorise large amounts of information.

These strengths may exist alongside challenges with functional communication, social engagement, comprehension or flexible play. We understand that advanced academic skills do not always translate into everyday communication and independence, and we support children in developing these equally important life skills.

What Makes Amazing K Different?

Our classrooms are intentionally designed to provide the structure, support and individual attention that many children require to succeed. Classes are small, typically ranging from 6 to 12 learners, with high levels of adult support.

Unlike traditional classrooms where instruction is primarily verbal, Amazing K uses a highly visual, hands-on approach to learning. Children learn through seeing, touching, doing, exploring and participating.

Visual supports, picture communication systems, schedules and structured routines are embedded throughout the school day to help children understand expectations and engage successfully in learning activities.

Independence is a core focus of our programme. From toilet training and feeding skills to dressing, self-care and classroom participation, children are supported in developing the practical life skills that help them become more confident and independent.

Amazing K feels like a school because it is a school. Yet it is also a specialised environment designed around the unique learning and communication needs of autistic children and children with developmental delays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need a formal autism diagnosis before applying?

No. Many families contact Amazing K before a formal diagnosis is made. If you are concerned about your child’s development, communication, learning or social interaction, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your child’s individual needs.

What ages does Amazing K support?

Amazing K supports children from approximately age 2. Children typically remain with us until the year they turn 10, although transition planning often begins earlier as they prepare for their next educational placement.

My child is non-speaking. Can they still attend?

Absolutely. Communication support lies at the heart of everything we do. We support children using visual supports, picture communication systems, AAC devices, sign language and speech development opportunities throughout the school day.

Do you help with toilet training?

Yes. Toilet training is one of the many independence skills we support within our programme. Successful toilet training requires consistency across home and school, with parents, caregivers and educators working together.

How long is the waiting list?

Waiting list times vary depending on your child’s age, support needs and the availability of suitable spaces within our programme. Availability is typically greatest within our younger age groups.

What happens during the child screening visit?

The screening visit is an opportunity for your child to spend time in our environment while our team gets to know them better. It is not a test or examination. The purpose is to understand your child’s communication style, learning needs, support requirements and classroom compatibility.

Can I visit the school before making a decision?

Yes. We strongly encourage it. The first consultation takes place without your child and allows parents to tour the school, meet our team, observe our environment and ask questions.
